Ini Edo is openly discussing her motivations for choosing surrogacy.
She gave birth to her daughter Light in 2021, shielding her from the public eye until March 2023, when she turned two.
In a recent interview on the well-liked podcast With Chude on Saturday, June 24, 2023, she revealed that she had gone through many miscarriages while attempting to conceive on her own before giving up.
The actress said that her resolve to have a kid—with or without a husband—motivated her to choose.
“I wanted it to be my child, my egg, so thankfully my eggs are good, so I did that,” she said.
Ini Edo has spoken out before about having her kid via surrogacy. In a 2021 interview with well-known blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus, she said she chose to prevent any future father/mother dispute.
In her words, “Another major reason I opted for a donor is that it scares me so much when I see banter and controversies between a mother and a father over a baby in public forums or when I see the man insisting he wants his child if things don’t work out between both parties”.
The celebrity said she still had some of her eggs preserved in case she pursued surrogacy again and emphasized how much she looked forward to being a mother.
