WASSCE Releases Result as 84% Gain Credit in Five Subjects 

The West African Examination Council, has announced in a statement that a total of 84.38% of its candidates who took part in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Nigeria, have bagged at least credit in a minimum of any five subjects.

At a press briefing in respect to the released 2023 WASSCE result, the body’s head in Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Areghan, stated that a total of 1,613,733 candidates participated in the examination exercise; and 1,361,608 of them, making up 84.38% of the total, obtained credit in at least five subjects, including and excluding Mathematics and English Language. 

A total of 79.81% obtained credits and beyond in at least five subjects, with English Language and Mathematics included. He mentioned that 47.9% were male candidates and 52.1% were female candidates. Although, a figure as high as 262,803 results from candidates who sat for the examination haven’t been released due to an alleged case of malpractice.
