The ninth edition of the renowned Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards has been revealed by Multichoice in collaboration with Africa Magic (AMVCA).
The three-day festival of film production skills, culture, fashion, music, and other aspects of African entertainment is scheduled for May 18–20, 2023.
At a press conference earlier today, March 23, 2023, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, unveiled the program for this year’s AMVCA.
Tejumola said the three-day event would begin with the Opening Night and Culture Day event, then go on to the Digital Content Creators and Young Filmmakers Days, and conclude the following day with the Runway Show/Nominee Gala. The award night will put an end to the festivities.
Femi Odugbemi, a veteran film director, producer, and writer, was named as the ninth AMVCA’s Chief Judge.
He said, “From its very beginnings, the AMVCA has been a celebration of Africa, a celebration of our cultures, our heritage, our stories, our stars and the excellence of their talent. The work of our jury will be difficult as many of the shortlisted entries show technical excellence, great storytelling and enthralling performances. As usual there are categories of nominees as well where we invite you to vote for your favourite shows. Please support your choices with your vote.”
The nominations for this year will be announced on all Africa Magic channels at 7 p.m. on April 9, 2023.
After this is done, the voting link will open ahead of the eagerly awaited award presentation.
