Netflix has announced an increase in subscription growth as a result of its most recent viral addition, ‘Squid Game.’

The streaming platform added 4.4 million new members globally between July and September, increasing the total number of users to 213.6 million, according to a letter released by the company on Tuesday.

Netflix is a global, direct-to-consumer service which enables creators to reach broader audiences- and gives our members an even greater choice of stories to enjoy. There is no better example of this than ‘Squid Game,” an excerpt from the letter to investors reads.

The latest results are said to be higher than both the streaming platform’s and analysts’ predictions. The streamer, on the other hand, expects 222 million subscribers by the end of the quarter.

Netflix’s record-breaking figures come amid a media frenzy surrounding Dave Chappelle’s new comedy special, ‘The Closer.’ Some LGBTQ activists, artists, and Netflix employees have attacked the top comic for transphobic remarks aired on the show in recent weeks.
