Vice President Kashim Shettima has appointed Kayode Egbetokun as the new acting Inspector General of Police during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, the event occurred in the Vice President’s office, marking a key milestone in the nation’s law enforcement leadership.
Kayode Egbetokun, a seasoned police officer, brings much expertise to his current position. Before his appointment, he served as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, demonstrating his dedication to ensuring peace and security in one of Nigeria’s most populated areas.
Vice President Shettima bestowed the badge of office to Egbetokun at the event, which prominent government officials attended. Egbetokun’s wife assisted Vice President Shettima with the decoration, symbolizing the support and encouragement he has received from loved ones in this significant chapter of his career.
Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), was among the notable visitors present.
