Morocco Set to Host 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco, a North African country, has been selected to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The announcement was made by the Executive Committee Board of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, September 27.

The committee further revealed that the 2027 AFCON edition will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Morocco’s last AFCON hosting was in 1988. In 2015, they were initially selected to host the tournament but requested a postponement due to the Ebola virus outbreak. However, CAF later revoked Morocco’s hosting rights.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his jubilation at the announcement, stating that the “future of African football has never been brighter.” He also put forth the belief that an African nation is on the verge of winning the World Cup in the near future.
