Universal’s Fast X is ruling the Nigerian box office with 32.6 million.

Despite being in theaters for three weeks, the tenth chapter in the Fast and Furious series is still at the top of the box office.

Since its premiere in Nigeria on May 19, 2023, the action film has grossed 254.56 million. On the other hand, Fast X has witnessed a 40% decrease in ticket sales from June 2-8, 2023.

The film has grossed over $630 million worldwide, with the most recent addition, Jason Momoa’s villain Dante Reyes, being regarded as the franchise’s finest nemesis.

Fast X: Part II is set to be released in the second quarter of 2025, after the first film’s success.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse comes in second with 28 million. The animated adventure from Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation has grossed 45 million dollars.

The Little Mermaid by Disney comes third with 18.6 million and total earnings of 78.9 million.

With Transformers: Rise of the Beasts opening on June 9, 2023, watching whether Fast X maintains its box office dominance will be fascinating.

There are no Nollywood films in the top three for now, but we hope that changes with the imminent release of Big Love and box office king AY’s Almajiri. Time will tell whether either film can turn the tide.
