Lawmakers voted to confirm Muhammad despite the noted differences.

Despite inconsistencies in his documents, the Senate approved a candidate to the board of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
Yahaya Muhammad was one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s candidates who was confirmed by legislators after the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes cleared him.
Kwari Sulieman, head of the committee, told the chamber that all five nominees satisfied the qualifications for public office, although Senator Hassan Hadejia expressed reservations about Muhammad.
According to Muhammad’s school records, he began elementary school a year before his birth.
He also questioned the nominee’s educational experience sequence, which he claimed was contradictory.
“He was in Borno Teachers College from 1975 and 1988 while simultaneously he was in the college of administration studies from 1980 to 1981,” Hadejia said.
Despite the inconsistencies, a majority of legislators voted in favor of Muhammad’s confirmation.
George Abang was also confirmed as the secretary of the EFCC board, as were Lukman Mohammed, Anumba Adaeze, and Bola Adesina.
