In this Issue of Chief Original Gangstar, our COG is Peace Itimi, the Host and Founder of Founders Connect, and a multifaceted marketing leader with seven years of experience spanning Africa and Europe, in both agency and client-side domains. In this Issue, we will be uncovering how Peace has not only navigated marketing landscapes but has also emerged as a global thought leader reshaping the way we perceive growth and connection.
Itimi’s marketing prowess is not just a skill; it’s a superpower. Armed with the knowledge and depth of a specialist, she has conquered various aspects of the marketing landscape. From mastering organic marketing tactics to steering performance marketing, product & lifecycle marketing, and delving into product-led growth tactics, Itimi has left an indelible mark.
Hailing from Benin City, Nigeria, and armed with a degree in Medical Biochemistry, Itimi found her true calling in digital marketing. Her foray into the field began with training fellow students as a Google Student Ambassador and later co-founding a digital marketing agency in 2016.
Her journey continued as she moved to Lagos in 2017, kickstarting her national service year at Webcoupers. Soon, she became a force at Wild Fusion, where she not only trained individuals on digital marketing but also organised sessions on behalf of Facebook, Orange Academy, and the British Council.
Itimi’s quest for impact led her to the online space. In 2018, she launched a YouTube channel, offering marketing tips and life lessons. The channel’s highlight, “Founders Connect,” features insightful interviews with African entrepreneurs, showcasing the depth of innovation across the continent.
In 2019, she joined the Nigerian tech ecosystem as the Head of Marketing at Korapay, later transitioning to Seedstars in 2020. Beyond her corporate roles, Itimi serves as the Founder and Host of “Founders Connect,” a show that spotlights African innovation.
Her journey took an international turn in 2021 when she decided to relocate to the UK, seeking a Tech Nation Visa. The Lekki toll gate incident during the #EndSARS protests served as a turning point, making her reassess her safety in Nigeria. Since then, Itimi has embraced the challenges of her new environment, working remotely as the Head of Growth for Stax, an offline fintech app.
London, with its diverse culture and efficient infrastructure, has become Itimi’s new playground. The city’s opportunities for travel and exposure have opened new horizons for her. Yet, amidst the perks, she grapples with the weather and the tax complexities, showcasing the realities of her transcontinental journey.
As Peace Itimi continues to make waves in the marketing world, her story exemplifies resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to leaving an impact on the global marketing landscape. From Nigeria to the UK, her journey echoes the spirit of a Chief Original Gangstar, navigating marketing heights and embracing new horizons with determination and grace.
