Aguero Banks, Hugo P, Highstarlavista, and Stunt Gant are a few of the many brooding artists making waves in the entertainment industry, bringing their own unique perspectives and experiences to their art. Their music mostly touches on themes of struggle, resilience, and hope, offering a glimpse into the South-East’s rich cultural heritage and the aspirations of its people.
Aguero Banks
Aguero Banks, born Chukwu Francis, is a rising street sensation from the south east of Nigeria. Aguero Banks is a unique and exciting artist who is currently making waves in the music industry with his distinctive sound.
The Enugu born artist draws inspiration from his experiences in the streets, using music as a way to escape the difficult realities of his surroundings. Even while still in school, Aguero Banks’ passion for music was evident, earning him the nickname “The Hero” among his peers. Music was more than just a hobby for him – it was a lifeline and a beacon of hope.
Aguero Banks’ first EP, “Pains and Sacrifice”, marked a turning point in his career. The songs on the EP tells the story of his childhood and the difficulties he faced growing up in Enugu. Like every other song coming from Bangs, his fans connected with the honest and raw lyrics, letting them find a kindred spirit in his music.
With his latest and most successful track, “Sober”, featuring legendary Phyno, Aguero Banks reflects on his journey, highlighting the fact that the streets are not a destination but a temporary stop on the way to something greater.
Hugo P
Hugo P is another musical force to be reckoned with, coming from the South Eastern part of Nigeria. Carving out a unique niche in the industry with his afrotrap sound, he laces his songs with deep emotions, and contemplative lyrics, combining the nostalgia of vintage Hip Hop and the contemporary edge of Trap.
With the release of “Resurrection” his craft gained significant attention. The album showcases Hugo P’s adaptable approach with a distinctive fusion of Hip Hop and Trap. He’s continued to release successful singles since then. Songs like “Rags 2 Riches” featuring Phyno, “Dreams & Nightmares”, “Underdog” “Roll One” among others have all received positive feedback from critics and fans alike.
Highstarlavista
Omulu Chidozie Nelson, professionally known as Highstarlavista is a talented up-and-coming Afro-pop artist from Enugu state. He is a graduate of Bio-medical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
Highstar got into mainstream music with his debut EP ‘Ghetto Bible’ released in April 2022, and has since released three albums and several singles in the span of just a few years. His third studio project titled ‘The Fellowship Vol.2’ boasts star-studded features from Hotkid amongst other super talented artistes within the Afrobeats and HipHop scene.
Stunt Gant
Stunt Gant, born Ugwuoke Hillary Chinonso, is a gifted songwriter, rapper and actor from Iheaka in Nsukka, Enugu state. His music addresses the ills of society, with the aim of making a positive impact through his art. Stunt Gant has released numerous projects, including “Pain”, “Pray”, “From My Side”, “Survival”, “Memories”, “Ogogoro”, “Ekelebe”, “Closer”, and “Money and Fame”.
He has in the past worked with artists like Kemena and a couple others. He’s one of those emerging talents to watch out for in the coming years.
