Busola Teumola, the executive head of content for MultiChoice, is the first female Nigerian to become a member of what has been described as the highest point in the television industry, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS).
IATAS is responsible for organising the prestigious International Emmy Awards, which is an awards range for outstanding achievements in television in the United States and internationally.
She is renowned for her exceptional work on drama films and some of the biggest film and television awards. Among them are the highly anticipated Slum King, the highly cultural African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), Big Brother Naija, and new TV shows like Masquerades of Aniedo, Chronicles, and Refuge.
She becomes a member of the Academy, which has been called the pinnacle of success in the television industry. According to reports, the exclusive group consists of 800 media and entertainment executives from all over the world who are passionate about developing the art and science of television.
As the first female Nigerian on the academy’s team, Tejumola joins five other Nigerian members. The other five are: Taj Adepetu, CEO of Media Conglomerate – Group8, Moses Babatope, Executive Director of FilmOne Entertainment, Femi Odugbemi, Executive Producer of Zuri24 Media, John Momoh, CEO of Channels TV, and John Ugbe, CEO of West Africa MultiChoice.
As January 15, 2024, approaches, the day of the next Emmy Awards, on January 15, approaches, we’ll be watching to see what this newest addition could mean for the Nigerian film industry overall.
