The critically praised film ‘You Will Die at 20’ by Amjad Abu Alala has been confirmed as the Surreal16 Feature Festival’s closing film.
The title was recently revealed by the festival’s organizers, along with a comprehensive list of films due to appear at the event this weekend.
The film, directed by Alala, tells the narrative of Muzamil, a young man who was born with the expectation of dying at the age of 20.
His father, unable to endure the news, abandons him with his mother until he is 19 and a day old.
Sudan’s first-ever Oscar bid for Best International Feature Film was unveiled in 2020, and the award-winning film created history. The picture, on the other hand, did not receive any nominations.
From December 10-11, 2021, the festival will screen a total of 12 short and feature films.
Surreal16 collective founders CJ Obasi, Abba Makama, and Michael Omonua directed the recently released anthology film ‘Juju Stories,’ which is on the festival’s schedule.
