Six Kidnappers arrested, Police recover guns & ammunition in Abia 

Six kidnappers have been apprehended by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, ITR, in various locations across Abia State.

Reports have it that one AK 47 rifle with serial number TC6664, 25 rounds of AK 47 live ammo, and one pump action gun with 10 live cartridges were discovered from the syndicate and a Volkswagen Jetta car used by the group.

According to Vanguard, the police source specifically disclosed that while interrogating the suspects, they confessed to several kidnappings in the state, including the abduction of Mr. Aniebue Onyebuchi, among others in Aba.

Chibuike Iheoma, the gang commander, and Samuel Udochukwu, the kidnapping syndicate’s deputy head, are among those apprehended.

Udo Onwukwe, the syndicate’s armourer and owner of the facility where the kidnapped victims are kept, has also been detained, as has Okechukwu Obioma, who guards the kidnapped captives at their camp.

Emeka Okedum is one of the gang’s other members, while Saviour Akpan is the gang’s driver.

As of press time, the Abia Police spokesman, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, had not returned calls to his cellphone. However, a senior police officer who requested anonymity confirmed the arrest and said that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the gang’s fugitives.
