Rema, the Nigerian superstar, has made history with his smash hit ‘Calm Down,’ which has become the highest-ranking African song on the Billboard Hot 100.

The remix of Rema’s international smash tune “Calm Down,” which features Selena Gomez, reached No. 8 on the most recent Billboard Hot 100, according to chart news website Chart Data on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
Being one of the biggest crossover Afrobeats songs in history, “Calm Down” has now eclipsed Wizkid’s “Essence” remix featuring Tems and Justin Bieber as the highest-ranking African single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Trying to hold in the tears, I know how hard I worked to get my sound here, I’m grateful to God for how far I’ve come. Love to the ones who believed & love to the Queen @selenagomez ✌🏾❤️ pic.twitter.com/yRqATHMjXf

On Rema’s debut album, “Raves & Roses,” which was released in February 2022, “Calm Down” served as one of the lead singles. Before receiving a Selena Gomez remix that helped it to even greater worldwide recognition, the song had tremendous local and international success.
‘Calm Down’ is the most-viewed Nigerian music video on YouTube, with over 230 million views. It has also exceeded one billion streams across all platforms.
The track also won Rema its first RIAA platinum certification, and the remix is likely to sell over 2 million records in the following weeks.
