President Bola Tinubu has reminisced about his academic achievements during his time as an undergraduate student at Chicago State University in the United States.
In an interactive session with Nigerian students studying in India, the President, who is currently in India, made this statement. This information was relayed in a statement issued on Thursday, September 7, 2023, by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
During the meeting, President Tinubu, speaking to a significant gathering of Nigerian students, encouraged them to embrace dedication, honesty, determination, and a positive mindset to excel in their careers.
He shared his own journey, highlighting that good education paved his path to becoming President and mentioning his previous roles as a security guard, tutor, and successful accountant at Deloitte and Exxon Mobil.
He urged the students not to lose hope, emphasizing that Nigeria is open to opportunities regardless of one’s regional background.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s diverse culture, tradition, and ethnicity as a powerful asset for national development and prosperity, offering a promising vision for a rich, populous, and dynamic country that can achieve great things through unity and diversity.
President Tinubu explained that his decision to run for the presidency was motivated by the belief that Nigeria faced challenges due to deficits in leadership and public sector management, despite its abundant human and natural resources.
He aimed to contribute to steering the nation in the right direction by addressing these issues and tapping into the country’s wealth of knowledge and human resources.
