Senator Abdul Ningi has been suspended from the senate for three months following his padding allegation about the 2024 budget.
In a recent interview, Ningi asserted that the executive branch is carrying out a budget that the National Assembly has not authorized.
The Bauchi Central (PDP) lawmaker stated that the ₦25tn budget, rather than the ₦28.7tn budget now in effect, was discussed and approved by the National Assembly.
As his accusation against the executive continues to spark debate over the 2024 budget, Ningi’s claim has embarrassed the Senate.
However, during plenary, the issue was debated and many lawmakers agreed that Ningi should own up to his mistake and apologise to the Senate.
The lawmaker representing Bauchi Central was suspended during the senate plenary on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, following a call to suspend him by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.
