The Lagos State Government cut the cost of transportation on all of its transport systems by 50% yesterday as a preventive move against the effect of the loss of fuel subsidies.
The policy will go into effect tomorrow, August 2, 2023, according to the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who announced it following the state’s monthly security meeting.
Sanwo-Olu further stated that arrangements had been made with several transport unions to provide a 25% discount. He stated that his government would take proactive measures to make life more tolerable for inhabitants.
The governor also stated that vulnerable persons in the state would be given palliatives to help them cope with the current suffering. While promising that his administration would deal with criminal activities in the state, Sanwo-Olu stated that the state government would assist security forces in carrying out their duties by supplying patrol buses and communication devices.
