Billboard and Vibe have collaborated to create a list of the best rappers of all time, with multi-award-winning rapper and business tycoon Jay Z atop the list.

The list was released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
Billboard and Vibe revealed their list of the best rappers of all time on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
The iconic rapper and 27-time Grammy winner Shawn Carter AKA Jay Z, whose brilliant career has spanned over three decades, is ranked as the greatest.
Billboard and Vibe comment on the list:
“So it took a lot of deliberation and deep discussion to reason our way to what we believe is a well-thought-out, authentic list that reflects hip-hop’s foundational pioneers, evolutionary trailblazers, and contemporary mainstays. In addition, that mix also encompasses 50 years of cultural milestones for a genre initially dismissed as a passing fad — and now recognized as the industry’s market-share leader.”
Rick Ross, the flamboyant rapper, is ranked 50th, Lauren Hill, the acclaimed rapper, and musician, is ranked 30th, and commercial rapper and businessman 50 Cent is ranked 17th.
Kanye West, a generational artist and sound creator, is placed 11th, just outside the top 10.
With a No. 10 position, Nicki Minaj is the highest-ranked female on the list. Drake, the best-selling rapper of all time, is rated eighth.
Lil Wayne is ranked seventh for his success and effect. Notorious B.I.G. and Tu Pac, two well-known competitors, are placed sixth and fourth, respectively.
