The Super Eagles have fallen to 39th place in the latest FIFA rankings, down from their previous rank of 38th.
Meanwhile, Spain, the new European Champions, have jumped five spots to secure the 3rd position globally.
The Super Eagles, currently without a manager following Finidi George’s resignation, remain within the top five teams on the African continent.
Morocco, ranked 14th globally, continues to be the top team in Africa, bolstered by their historic semi-final run in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal’s Teranga Lions follow closely, ranking 19th in the world.
Egypt, led by Mo Salah, is ranked 36th globally, while Sebastien Haller’s Ivory Coast holds the 38th position, making them third and fourth in Africa, respectively.
Despite a slight drop in global rankings, Nigeria remains among the top five teams in Africa.
Tunisia (41), Algeria (46), Cameroon (51), Mali (53), and South Africa (57) complete Africa’s top ten teams.
Globally, EURO 2024 champions Spain have climbed from eighth to third, reflecting their recent success. England, the runners-up, have improved to fourth place.
Argentina holds the top spot in the rankings, adding the 2024 Copa America trophy to their 2022 FIFA World Cup win, while France remains in second place.
