Chrisland School has been given permission by Olabisi Fajana, a Lagos State Judge, to undertake an independent review of the autopsy performed on Whitney Adeniran’s body. Whitney was a 12-year-old student who passed away early on February 9, 2023.

The Magistrate instructed LASUTH’s chief medical examiner to provide all the materials to the applicant’s pathologist’s laboratory on the day of the forensic consultation, which would be overseen by the chief medical examiner and the dead person’s parents.

The school had submitted an application to consult an outside pathologist on the materials collected from the deceased by the LASUTH. They include blood and other bodily fluids, skin samples, slides used to diagnose electrocution, bone and muscle samples, and urine samples obtained during the autopsy.

In addition, the school wanted all images taken during the autopsy, copies of all histology slides submitted, and access to the findings of any toxicological tests performed on the late student.

Whitney’s parents are scheduled to testify in the lawsuit on April 17, 2023. Akin George, the state government’s counsel, did not object to the application.

Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old pupil at Chrisland School in Lagos, Nigeria, died in the case. Her parents have questioned the circumstances of her death, which was first described as electrocution.

The matter has been the subject of continuous inquiry and legal actions, including the recent grant of authorization for an independent examination of the deceased’s autopsy.
