Sidikat Odunkanwi, also known as Iyabo Oko, a Yoruba actress, has died after a protracted illness.

Her daughter, Bisi Aisha, announced the news on Instagram, “It is well with your soul mummy, RIP,” and, “Wurami, rest in peace.”

According to her daughter Olamide last year, Oko was previously diagnosed with an ischemic stroke, which she had suffered for some time. Because of her illness, the actress was compelled to retire from performing.

It’s not the first time the actress has been declared dead. She was proclaimed dead following a cardiac arrest in January 2022, but she came back to life three hours later when a pulse was discovered, and she moved. When her daughter revealed her death in 2022, people were astounded by how the actress had resurrected.

Her acting career started in 1973 with the Eda Onileola theatrical group in Iwo, Osun State. She rose to prominence thanks to the Oga Bello-produced Oko, from which she got her moniker ‘Iyabo Oko.’

The veteran soon rose to prominence for her parts in Yoruba films like Idunnu Okan and Okobo Dimeji.
