The Bride Price is the number one film in the Nigeria box office.

After two weeks in theaters, the indigenous picture surpassed 13 million viewers.

Nonetheless, according to statistics from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the picture had a 26% decline in ticket sales during the weekend and a 25% overall fall.

While the picture is ahead of the worldwide title John Wick 4 as well as local titles such as Honey Money and The Kujus, This, once again, does not augur well for the film.

The Bride Price, reportedly the first Igbo indigenous film to have a large theater distribution, will face heavy competition from impending Hollywood movies such as Little Mermaid and Fast & Furious.

The film is described as a comedic drama and follows Aloy, a minimally educated spare parts merchant. Despite her father’s objections, he cuts his wife’s family out of their life after being forced to pay through the nose for her.

Zubby Michael, Nkem Owoh, Ebele Okaro, Funny Bone, Juliana Olayode, Beverly Oh, Akinola Akano, and Trinity Ugonabo are among the cast members. Okey Oku directed it, while Trinity Ugonabo produced it.
