Nigerian music sensation Shallipopi has announced his record label.
Shallipopi is one of the breakout stars of Nigerian music in 2023 with his kind of street music that blends his Bini culture with hip hop and party-starting Afrobeats elements for smash tracks that propelled him to the mainstream.
On October 17, 2023, the rapidly emerging artist surprised Nigerians by announcing the launch of Plutomania Records, his own record label.
While announcing the formation of Plutomania Records, Shallipopi—who is signed to Dapper Music—also introduced two new musicians to the company, Zerryl and Tega Boi.
With the release of his EP “Planet Pluto” in 2023, which featured the popular songs “Elon Musk,” “Obapluto,” and “Ex-Convict,” Shallipopi saw incredible success.
In a list made to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary, Shallipopi was named one of the five rapidly emerging artists on Apple Music. He was mentioned next to fellow 2023 breakout star ODUMODUBLVCK, who took home the Rookie of the Year trophy from the 2023 Headies.
Seyi Vibez, who received the Best Street Hop song award for “Chance,” Bayyani, a rising star on the Mavin roster, and gospel music phenomenon Victor Thompson are also included on the list.
Two new songs from Shallipopi, “Things on Things” and “Oscroh,” were released recently. The latter song peaked at number one on both Spotify’s Nigeria Top 50 and Apple Music’s Nigeria Top 100.
Shallipopi is poised to expand his dominance in the mainstream with the launch of his record company and the introduction of his new signees.
