Olamilekan Massoud Al-Khalifah Agbeleshebioba, also known as Laycon, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, has lambasted the Nigerian government over the country’s plight.

On Monday, April 25, 2022, the reality TV personality announced this on Twitter in response to the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ strike, which had kept Nigerian students at home for months.

“I’m scared ooo, I’m really scared. What kind of government is this !!! Universities are closed, they have been closed for months and this mandem are focused on elections alone,” he tweeted.

In February, ASUU launched a month-long warning strike to urge its demands on the federal government.

Following the completion of the March warning strike, the academic union went on strike for another two months.

The union demanded, among other things, that findings on visiting panels be made available to federal institutions.

It also recommended that salary payment difficulties be resolved, that monies be provided to revitalize public institutions, that an academic allowance be provided, and that state university financing be improved.
