Davido’s new album, ‘Timeless,’ has dominated album charts throughout the globe mere hours after its release.
By Omotayo Olutekunbi
Davido’s highly awaited fourth album, ‘Timeless,’ was released on March 31, 2023. The 17-track album comes three years after the release of his previous album, and it is the first time he has released new music since May 2022.
‘Timeless’ has already hit No. 1 on the Apple Music album list in 17 countries just hours after its release.
In Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Ghana, Senegal, Uganda, Niger, Malawi, Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Qatar, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe, the album is number one.
Davido is one of the continent’s biggest musicians, so it’s no surprise that his album has already topped the charts just hours after its release.
The chart success of ‘Timeless’ in Qatar comes as no surprise, given Davido played during the country’s FIFA 2022 World Cup.
The United Kingdom has remained a significant market for Afrobeats, thus the album is likely to be well-received there.
Fans will be watching to see how many nations the album takes over in the following days.
