Nigerian music musician Davido has congratulated Banky W on his victory in the People’s Democratic Party’s House of Representatives primary (PDP).
On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the musician came to Twitter to express his support for the singer-turned-politician.
“Congrats @BankyW! You have my support! Don’t sit at home and complain get up and make a change,” he tweeted.
Banky W was elected to represent the Eti-Osa federal seat in the House of Representatives on the PDP platform.
The primaries were held on Monday, May 23.
The music star received 28 votes to overcome his opponent, who received three votes.
Back in April, the musician revealed his intention to compete for a House of Representatives seat.
“We must engage with Nigeria where it is, not where we prefer for it to be. In 2019, we planted the seed. In 2023, by the grace of God, and with your support, we will win the seat. The time for just talking is over. It’s time to #TalkAndDo. I hope I can count on you. We move,” he tweeted at that time.
In November of 2018, Banky W declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives.
Fans and colleagues in the business reacted positively to the news.
However, he was defeated by APC candidate Ibrahim Obanikoro.
