Brymo promised to never belittle the tribe and expressed regret to anyone he may have upset at this time.

Olawale Ashimi, better known by his stage name Brymo, is a Nigerian alternative musician who has provided his own perspective on the widely circulated “anti-Igbo” statements he made online.
The musician has received harsh criticism from many for remarks he made on the Nigerian Igbo group, according to which they have no right to stake a claim to the presidency.
Brymo’s remarks first drew condemnation from other celebrities and fans, but he stuck to his guns and demonstrated his unrepentant attitude by retweeting the same series of tweets.
On an Instagram live session, the artist did, however, provide his side of the tale and explain how the whole thing came to be.
He said that the controversy began after he voiced his opinion about the news that Chimamanda Adichie had taken an Igbo chieftaincy title but turned down a national award, arguing that this shouldn’t have been the case given that the area should have been clamoring for the presidency.
Contrary to popular belief, Brymo stated that he has always supported an Igbo president.
Brymo claimed that when his statement was misconstrued, he got abuse, and death threats and a petition was started against him.

After the petition, Brymo said that someone asked him to apologize to the Igbos. He replied, “Fck the Ndi Igbo! Hll with it.”
Brymo said that the phrase “it” actually referred to that movement rather than the tribe itself. He claimed that because doing so would be grammatically wrong, he would never refer to a group of individuals as “it.”
Brymo promised to never belittle the tribe and expressed regret to anyone he may have upset at this time.
“I didn’t insult the tribe (Igbos), I will not do that. I apologize to any one who is saddened by such tweet. I was trying to weigh in on very important matters,” he said.
Many online users are still responding to the explanation, many of whom do not believe it.
