The annual Wizkid Day is being observed in Minnesota four years after Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed October 6th to be the State’s annual Wizkid Day.
The Governor stated that Wizkid’s musical accomplishments and his status as a cultural influencer were recognized in the paper that was signed, sealed, and stamped to declare the day.
The distinction was given to Wizkid when he became the first African performer to sell out Minneapolis’ Skyway Theatre in 2019.
Since being acknowledged, Wizkid has gone on to do a number of remarkable things, such as topping the Billboard Hot 100, selling out London’s 02 Arena three nights in a row, taking home a Grammy, and earning an RIAA platinum certification.
Upper midwestern United States is where the state of Minnesota is located. It has the 22nd most people per square mile and is the 12th biggest state in the US.
