Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems, won two awards on Wednesday.
On September 6, 2023, in London, United Kingdom, at the ELLE Style Awards, the Oscar-nominated celebrity won the Trailblazer Award.
Tems was on ground to receive her award, which was presented by BBC Radio 1 host Julie Adenuga and BAFTA-winning actress Naomi Ackie.
The ‘Essence’ singer credited her upbringing in Lagos, Nigeria, and her faith for her career success thus far in her acceptance speech.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Tems was named the Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards held at the LIV Nightclub in Miami Beach on September 6, 2023.
She was recognised for her songwriting credits on ‘Free Mind’, Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’, and Future and Drake’s ‘Wait For U.’
