Wizkid Makes History With ‘Made In Lagos’ Certification

Following the United States Gold certification of his 2020 album “Made In Lagos,” African megastar Wizkid has added another trophy to his collection.

The “Made In Lagos” album by Wizkid received Gold Certification by the Recording Industry Association of America on August 29, 2022, after selling more than 500,000 copies in the US.

Wizkid gains the distinction of becoming the only African and Nigerian musician to have his album sell more than 500,000 copies in the US thanks to this enormous step.

As anticipated, Mr. Ayo “Wizkid” Balogun has received acclaim from his followers, admirers, coworkers, and media figures for once again placing Nigeria and Africa on the map and setting the bar for other musicians.

It’s obvious that the enormous success of “Essence,” which was popular in the US, is what is responsible for “Made in Lagos”‘ appeal in the US. The Justin Bieber-assisted remix of “Essence” went double platinum and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As Afrobeats continues to flourish globally, Nigerian fans will be hopeful that additional albums may follow in the footsteps of “Made In Lagos” and experience international success.
