Nigerian superstar Wizkid recently made history by being the first African performer to serve as the headlining act at the renowned music festival “Rolling Loud.”
By Omotayo Olutekunbi
The third day of the Rolling Loud Festival in Toronto, Canada, featured Wizkid as the headlining act on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Wizkid honored the history-making night by dazzling the crowd with an enthralling collection of his great tracks. His attendance makes him the first African to headline a Rolling Loud Festival.
Wizkid’s most recent rendition of Chris Brown’s “Call Me Everyday” had its first-ever performance that evening, and it got the crowd singing along.
For Afrobeats, which is currently at an all-time high, it has taken a very long time to arrive. Nigerian celebrities are in great demand across the world, and many of them embark on tours that stop in many nations in North America, Europe, and Africa.
The most recent achievement of Wizkid—headlining one of the biggest music festivals in America, Rolling Loud—as the first African musician will undoubtedly pave the way for more superstars.
Since the initial attempt is often the most difficult, Wizkid’s incredible achievement will make it simpler for the next Afrobeats artists.
