Following the death of a student, Whitney Adeniran, the Lagos State government has ordered the closure of Chrisland School in Opebi, Ikeja.
The Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, stated in a statement distributed to newsmen on Sunday, February 12, 2023, that the school would stay closed awaiting the conclusion of a complete investigation.
The commissioner expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and friends and prayed for her soul’s peace.
Adefisayo, on the other hand, urged calm, promising that “no effort will be spared in investigating the incident”.
In a message shared on social media, the father of the late 12-year-old requested an inquiry into her death.
Michael Adeniran stated that she was neither ill nor mentally ill when the school bus picked her up for inter-house sports events on Thursday, February 12, 2023.
