The No. 1 award program for the celebration of creative accomplishments in Nigerian music has officially launched, and TurnTable Charts is happy to announce it.
By Omotayo Olutekunbi
All individuals engaged in producing a No. 1 single in the nation are eligible for the prize, which is established for this (this is based on the weekly TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 which combines all streaming platforms and airplay across the country).
The prize is therefore open to both producers and performers (lead and featured).
Furthermore, engineers and studio staff are also qualified for the No. 1 award; these are two crucial categories that are sometimes neglected in music celebrations in this region of the world.
The management of the performers engaged in the No. 1 singles, record companies, A&Rs, music distributors, and other individuals is also eligible for the prize.
This new initiative’s goals are to acknowledge the unsung heroes of artistic milestones, including record label executives, producers, composers, A&Rs, engineers, and others, and to honor success and distinctive accomplishments. If there is enough proof of your involvement in the composition of a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Nigeria Top 100, you are allowed to order your own No. 1 trophy.
For their respective number-one songs, “Bandana” and “Peace Be Unto You,” Fireboy DML and Asake became the inaugural recipients of the honor. The first, which is still the nation’s top song, lasted five weeks straight at the top of the Nigeria Top 100, while the second became the first song to top the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100, which was introduced on July 11, 2022.
Here are all the No. 1 songs on the defunct TurnTable Top 50
