The Equalizer, a drama series starring Queen Latifah that is now in its second season, has been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4. This renewal comes as no surprise given the series’ outstanding viewership and favorable reviews.
The series is a reboot of Richard Lindheim and Michael Sloan’s famous 1980s television show of the same name. Robert McCall, a retired intelligence agent who becomes a private investigator, was played by Edward Woodward in the first season. Latifah plays Robyn McCall, a single mother with a “secret history” who utilizes her abilities to assist and defend individuals who have nowhere else to turn in this series. A cinematic series remake featuring Denzel Washington precedes Queen Latifah’s series.
The Equalizer aired on February 21, 2021, and it quickly became a smash. The program is Sunday’s top scripted series, with 9.46 million weekly viewers and “1.2 billion potential social media impressions” to far.
Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, and Laya DeLeon Hayes also feature in The Equalizer. Latifah, Andrew Marlowe, Terri Edda Miller, John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Lindheim, Shakim Compere, and Joseph C. Wilson executive produce the series for Universal Television in cooperation with CBS Studios. Wilson and Adam Glass will also serve as co-showrunners in Season 3.
The second season of The Equalizer is still airing, with the season finale set for May 15.
