In a press conference held on October 10, 2023, “Ifediche,” a profoundly indigenous production, was announced to officially premiere on November 12, 2023, also securing an official release with Blue Pictures Distribution Company in cinemas from November 17, 2023. The award-winning film, which has garnered recognition from several reputable sources, was an initiative aimed at projecting the beautiful aspect of Enugu State, the place of its origin.

The storyline of “Ifediche” revolves around a young woman, a product of higher education in the urban landscape, who makes the life-altering decision to reconnect with her rural roots in pursuit of her loftiest aspirations. She embarks on this journey, brimming with dreams, but soon realizes that unforeseen challenges arising from her roots and the magnitude of her ambitions are hurdles she must overcome.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Brown Ene, the Chairman of the Actors Guild in Enugu State, emphasized the film’s central role as a collaborative effort championed by the former governor, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to support the Actors Guild of Nigeria in Enugu State in a talent hunt/film production. Ene further detailed the plethora of recognitions, nominations, and awards that “Ifediche” has already secured.
“Ifediche”‘s stellar accolades include the prestigious title of ‘The Best Film Foreign Language’ at the Toronto Nollywood International Film Festival, Canada; an honorable mention as ‘Best Feature Film’ at the Eastern Europe Film Festival; a nomination as ‘Best Indigenous Language Movie’ at the 2023 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards; a contender for ‘Best Narrative Feature Film’ at the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival; a nomination from the Abuja International Film Festival and an impressive five nominations from AFRICUFF, USA.
All these solidify “Ifediche” as a promising film with great potential.

Mr. Ene concluded by formally inviting everyone to the official premiere, while also enjoining everyone else to look out for “Ifediche” in cinemas from November 17, 2023.
