Tems Set To Receive Another RIAA Certification For ‘Higher’
Nigerian worldwide sensation Tems is set to earn another RIAA plaque for her hit ‘Higher’.
By Omotayo Olutekunbi
Tems’ “Higher” has sold more than 500,000 copies in the United States, and as such, the song qualifies for an RIAA plaque, according to chart news website Chart Data.
A song from her EP, “For Broken Ears,” called “Higher,” was released in 2020. With “Higher,” the EP is releasing its second RIAA-certified gold hit after the success of “Free Mind” in 2022.
Tems has continued to get support from other governments since after she rose to recognition internationally in 2020 as a result of her contributions to Wizkid’s “Essence” album.
With Future’s “Wait For U,” she became the first artist from Nigeria to make their debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. On the Billboard Hot 100, her song “Free Mind” stayed for 21 weeks.
She is one of the most RIAA-certified Nigerian musicians because of her platinum certifications for the songs “Essence” and “Wait For U,” as well as her solo gold certifications for “Free Mind” and “Higher.”
