Taofeek Adeyinka popularly known as Topzy or the Lagos Mobile Barber is behind the creative hair styles of some of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities including Burna Boy and Asake, to mention just a few.

The talented barber recounted how his professional journey began some years ago when he faced financial constraints while seeking admission into school. Aware of his parents’ financial limitations, he chose to be an apprentice at a barbershop, aiming to acquire skills before his schooling resumed. Driven by a passion to excel, he took the initiative to self-educate, relying on tutorials from YouTube and Instagram to hone his craft.
Taofeek started his barber career back in school at the Olabisi Onabanjo University mostly referred to as OOU, in Ogun State. He claimed he was schooling and working at the same time while at school, studying Fine and Applied Art’s. He stated he moved around school, cutting the hair of his fellow students. Unfortunately, like everyone else, He basically had to leave school at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This happened during his second semester of 100 level.
He began his barbing journey as a relatively unknown individual. Driven by determination, Taofeek dedicated himself to honing his skills in hair design and perfecting his craft. Harnessing the potential of social media, he showcased his artistry on different platforms, attracting clients and followers along the way.
Moreover, he adopted a proactive approach; instead of waiting for clients to approach him, Taofeek took the initiative to reach out to them, gradually establishing a loyal customer base. He claimed his transformation is a testament to the combination of hard work and utilizing the internet to its fullest potential.
When questioned about his move from Oyo state to Lagos as his craft gained online popularity, Taofeek explained that it was a response to the numerous calls he received from people who consistently requested his services in Lagos. Taofeek disclosed that as photos of his barbering skills circulated widely on social media, his clientele expanded significantly, granting him access to several celebrities in the process.
Regarding how he was able to make contact with various celebrities he has worked with, He said he took the initiative to connect with celebrities directly; claiming he reached out to some of them through their close friends, establishing connections that could serve as a bridge. Also, he focused on impressing ‘these friends’, ensuring they were satisfied with his work. Gradually, they began recommending him to their celebrity acquaintances.
Taofeek has had the privilege of working with renowned entertainers including Burnaboy, Bnxn (formerly known as Buju), Ghanaian’s Black Sheriff, Darey, Larry Gaga, Qdot, Dj Obi, Asake, and the esteemed jeweler Godson Umeh.
