Poe’s releases ‘Running’ with Fireboy DML ahead of his highly anticipated EP, which will be released next month. Poe’s tremendous lyrical flow and delivery are combined with an anthemic chorus from Fireboy in this instantly addictive song. Poe’s musical DNA is reflected in ‘Running,’ which was produced by Andre Vibez and incorporates his poignant penship and feel-good energy.
Ladipoe’s international popularity exploded following the success of his recent hit ‘Feeling,’ which he co-wrote with breakout vocalist BUJU, went viral throughout the world.
The song set records by amassing over 80 million streams and becoming the first song in Nigeria to reach No. 1 on YouTube without a video. The track’s global influence garnered him a well-deserved BET Award nomination for Best International Flow, which he nearly lost to Little Simz.
Celebrating the triumph of ‘Feeling,’ he spent weeks in the UK this summer immersing himself in the culture, meeting up with in-demand rapper Millionz before performing on stage with Mavin Records label mate Rema at All Points East before returning to Lagos.
Poe had a very different life planned for him as a child; he studied a double major and a master’s degree in the United States, in North Carolina, with the goal of becoming a doctor. His obsession with music and composing lyrics didn’t begin until a friend brought him a rhythm, and the rest, as they say, is history.
He was present from the start of the Alté scene, and has since collaborated with artists such as Tems, Teni, Falz, Crayon, and Simi, to mention a few. LADIPOE has succeeded in shaking things up and changing the perception of Nigerian rappers. His lyrics set him apart in the global rap arena, and they never fail to grab attention.
