Oyo APC Group Is Outraged By The Demolition Of Billboards And Posters

The Rescue Oyo Mission ’23, an interest organisation inside the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, sounded the alarm on Wednesday over the willful destruction of billboards of the party’s prospects.

News Agency of Nigeria

Dauda Kolawole, the group’s organiser, urged the police and other security services to monitor the operations of political thugs operating under the Park Management System (PMS) in the state in order to hamper opposing political parties.

Kolawole blamed the regrettable occurrence on political intolerance in a statement released in Ibadan.

He said that in the previous 48 hours, alleged PMS members in Ibadan have damaged at least five billboards and many posters of APC candidates.

On Monday, a billboard belonging to an APC governorship candidate, Akeem Agbaje, was vandalised on Iwo-Road in the state capital, he said.

The culprits’ actions were termed by Kolawole as “reckless, provocative, and unlawful impunity.”

He went on to say that the miscreants had also torn down or destroyed many billboards put up by other APC candidates.

He urged Gov. Seyi Makinde to discourage brigandage and violence in the state, claiming that the heinous destruction of opposition candidates’ billboards was an act of desperation.

He also asked the governor to maintain a calm environment in which people may use their right to vote.

Kolawole also urged already enraged APC members and impacted aspirants to keep cool, expressing optimism that the issue will soon calm down.
