At the just concluded Africa International Film Festival, Olu Jacobs was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award (AFRIFF).
On Saturday, November 13, the iconic movie star shocked fans when he stepped out with his wife, Joke Silva, to accept the honorary award at the festival’s closing ceremony. He also shared images from the occasion on his Instagram account.
“Lifetime achievement award winner, curtsey @afriff,” Jacobs wrote on Instagram.
Richard Mofe Damijo, a veteran actor, also turned to social media to congratulate the iconic actor on his new win.
“Congratulations my very own uncle J @_olujacobs. A well deserved Life Time Achievement Award. Because of you, I am. Pathfinder you are. I celebrate you and your family this morning. It is my good fortune that I can call you and my baby Sister @ajokesilva family. Thank you for ever being so gracious to me. Like my people will say, my knees are on the ground for you. It is well with you!”
Jacobs’ visit at AFRIFF will be the actor’s first public appearance since rumors of his death made headlines a few months ago.
Jacobs, who has worked in the film industry for over three decades and has received AMAA, AMVCA, and AFRIFF awards, is one of Nigeria’s most revered movie icon.
