Nonso Amadi, a Nigerian Afro-R&B, soul singer, songwriter, and producer residing in Canada, has unveiled the sumptuous music video for his new song “Foreigner,” which was published last week and marked Nonso’s triumphant return after a two-year break.
Nonso Amadi is proudly represented by Jade Busola and Quiet As Kept (Trung Hoang, Gavin Sheppard), as well as label partners Def Jam Recordings stateside and Universal Music Canada, which will allow him to strategically focus on a number of major worldwide markets, including his home Nigeria.
The music video for “Foreigner,” directed by Jordan Lee and shot in Toronto, provides a look into Nonso’s new universe, which is bold and sophisticated, placing Nonso in the limelight.
The intriguing video captures the depths of the tune while also commemorating Nonso’s background, with deep colour juxtapositions that combine flawlessly. “The crux of the film resides inside Nonso’s profound connection to his African culture, and we wanted to depict that in a way that was real to him,” says director Jorden Lee of the visual.
We wanted to recreate the spirit of his heritage while adding our own modern twist through dancing, dress, colour, and tones.” Nonso’s duality is showcased in this piece, which is a smooth and sensual record with African drumlines, trance-like saxophone instruments, and other soulful jazz components.
