The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has been authorized to increase from N165 per litre to N179 per litre, beginning today, by The Nigerian National Petroleum (NNPC) Limited (Tuesday).
In a communication to fuel marketers, NNPC Limited instructed them to update the price of gasoline at the pumps to the new price effective immediately (Tuesday).
This occurred at the same time when the business raised the ex-depot price per litre from N148.17 to N167.
Lagos’s gas stations showed that the bulk of them had changed their pricing strategies.
While some gas stations adjusted the pricing on their meters to reflect the price they are now selling at, others left theirs to show the approved retail price of N165 per litre even though they were selling over the amount shown.
For instance, the Mobil filling station on Agidingbi sold a litre of gasoline on Friday for N170 a litre, and that price was clearly printed on their meters.
The Enyo filling station at the Chisco bus stop in Lekki, which now sells for N170 per litre, the Eterna filling station at the Jankade bus stop in Lekki, which sells for N180 per litre, and the Mobil filling station by Osapa London in Lekki, which now sells for N170 per litre all underwent the same development.
The revised rates have been reflected on the meters at all three of the Lekki filling stations mentioned above, and they have also been updated on the huge board where the prices are typically displayed for drivers to view.
