The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration, and Control (NAFDAC) is collaborating with South-East governors to enhance productivity and establish industrial hubs in the region, as stated by NAFDAC’s new South-East Zonal Director, Martins Iluyomade, during a media briefing in Enugu.
He emphasized that the South-East region is the economic hub for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. While acknowledging Lagos, he stated that, in terms of economic output, the South-East should be comparable to China within Nigeria.
The new South-East Zonal Director of NAFDAC aims to harness the region’s industrious and innovative people for economic growth. He plans to collaborate with South-East governors to establish industrial hubs, aiming to produce products approved by NAFDAC for both local use and export.
The director envisions the Southeast becoming a model, even surpassing China in industrial initiatives, and plans to assist in setting up factories to create employment opportunities in the region.
Iluyomade urged production companies in the South-East to adhere to NAFDAC’s regulatory guidelines and produce safe, standard products. He emphasized NAFDAC’s readiness to collaborate with these companies to create genuine, high-quality products.
He encouraged those manufacturing imitation products to shift their focus to producing original items, stating his intent to assist them in this transition.
