Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved N80,000 minimum wage for Enugu workers, beginning October 2024.

He announced the news on Thursday via his official X account, which is a huge development for state personnel.

“I have just approved a minimum wage of N80,000 for Enugu workers, effective October 2024.

“We appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of the state’s workforce and will continue to prioritise their welfare in line with our campaign promises,” wrote the governor.

The decision follows similar moves in other states.

On October 16, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu set the minimum wage at N85,000 for public sector workers, while Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara approved an N85,000 minimum wage on October 18.
