Magixx Named Spotify’s Fresh Finds Artist For August 

Magixx, a rising Afrobeats star, has been named as the Fresh Finds Africa artist for August 2022 on Spotify.

New artists have the chance to be featured and have their music made available to a larger audience thanks to Spotify’s Fresh Finds Playlist. This initiative, which aims to develop a platform for up-and-coming artists to increase their listenership, will most recently benefit Magixx.

Magixx’s career in music began when he was a young boy singing in his church choir. Magixx was born Adelabu Adewunmi Alexander. The University of Lagos graduate, 25, has been honing his craft for a number of years and has become one of the most distinctive new voices in Afrobeats.

The smash single “Love Don’t Cost A Dime” from Magixx’s self-titled debut EP helped him become a household name. He has since showcased his talent on Mavin’s “Overload” and, more recently, on his sophomore EP, “Atom.”

Phiona Okumu, head of music for sub-Saharan Africa at Spotify, commented on the news.

The Spotify music team selects a new artist for its monthly program called Fresh Finds Africa each time. Through initiatives like EQUAL and RADAR, Spotify continues to support the African music scene, and this is a crucial part of that.
