Kizz Daniel, an award-winning musician, and composer were awarded a plaque by Boomplay, Africa’s number-one music streaming platform, after reaching 500 million streams on the site. Tosin Sorinola, Boomplay’s Director of Artist & Media Relations, gave the plaque to Kizz Daniel at his sold-out Afroclassic 2022 event in Lagos on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
The explosive success of ‘Barnabas’ this year has kept the flames of Kizz Daniel’s amazing run burning, topping charts throughout the country. Buga accumulated 1 million streams within 24 hours after release on Boomplay and maintained the top rank in countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Togo, Zambia, DRC, Benin, and Sierra Leone.
Kizz Daniel became the first artist to reach 100,000,000 project-based streams in less than six months earlier in April 2022, according to Boomplay, with the release of his fourth studio album, “Barnabas EP.”
“Kizz Daniel is an Uber talented artist and I am glad he is finally getting the kind of exposure he deserves and, through our platform. Boomplay is unwavering in its commitment to supporting African artists, helping them reach and unlock new fans of their music. We are thrilled that Kizz has recorded this monumental feat and we hope this achievement serves as an inspiration to artists and the industry at large,” Tosin Sorinola said when talking about Kizz Daniel.
The well-known vocalist continues to get enormous support and admiration throughout the world after scoring a mainstream hit with Tekno’s “Buga,” which has also been widely hailed as a masterstroke.
