The blockbuster film ‘King of Thieves,’ produced by Euphoria 360 and Anthill Studios, may be on its way to breaking a big box office record.
The N250 million milestone has been reached for the epic film based on a classic Yoruba folktale.
The Femi Adebayo-produced film has made over N267 million in its sixth week, an incredible sum for a non-English film in Nigeria.
The production firms co-hosted an event over the weekend to commemorate the achievement of the $250 million mark. Anthill CEO Niyi Akinmolayan said on Instagram about the event:
“Yesterday we celebrated all the beautiful people that worked on King of Thieves (Cast and Crew). This is very important to me because sometimes we get carried away with headliners and forget that a film is made by a village of people. We decided to celebrate them and also give gifts in cash and kind.”
‘King of Thieves,’ starring Femi Adebayo Salami and Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Chatta, Adedimeji Lateef, Aisha Lawal, Mr Macaroni, and Broda Shaggi, is set in Ajeromi, an old Yoruba kingdom that is thrown into turmoil following the invasion of the vicious Ajeshinkole.
Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami directed the Yoruba epic. On April 8, 2022, it premiered to acclaim.
