Jonathan Not Yet Our Member – APC Bayelsa Chairman
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is free to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Dr Dennis Otiotio, Chairman of the Nayelsa chapter of the party.
News Agency of Nigeria
In a telephone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, Otiotio revealed this.
He said the APC in Bayelsa was unaware of Jonathan’s membership as he spoke against plans to push Jonathan into the 2023 presidential contest.
“The former president is not yet a registered member of APC. He is free to join any party of his choice.
“We are open and willing to receive him into our fold, as a political party desirous of winning elections, the only way to go is by admitting people into the party,” Otiotio said.
On Monday in Abuja, a support group acquired the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the former president to run for president on the APC platform in the 2023 elections.
Jonathan’s Media Adviser, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, issued a statement on Monday night distancing himself from the move and claiming that Jonathan did not authorise the purchase of the form.
Jonathan was not contacted about the APC nomination in his name, according to the statement, and he rejected it.
