On Thursday, Gombe State Governor Muhammad Yahaya won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.

According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), seven delegates were unable to attend the poll.
Dr Danjuma Dabo, the Chief Returning Officer, announced the results, saying that out of the 570 people expected to vote, 563 delegates were accredited.
Gov. Yahaya congratulated the delegates for choosing him as the party’s flag-bearer for the 2023 gubernatorial race in his acceptance address.
“Our performance will speak for us; therefore there is no shaking,” he said, urging party stakeholders to work together to deliver the state to the APC in the 2023 elections.
The governor praised the party’s leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, “standing firm and for providing good leadership in Nigeria in this hard time that there is indeed a global challenge’’.
Members of Yahaya’s team were also praised for their support and hard work in producing outcomes that had persuaded the people of Gombe State.
He stated that the affirmation’s trust in him will motivate him to give greater democratic dividends to the people.
Governor Yahaya will face Alhaji Jibrin Barde of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 gubernatorial election (PDP).
On Wednesday, Barde defeated his closest challenger, Alhaji Jamil Gwamna, who received 119 votes, to win his party’s flag.
