Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has fired his Executive Assistant on Communications, Latimore Oghenesivbe, after the latter accused him of unjust treatment in a Facebook post.

In a post titled ‘Tribal Bigot,’ Oghenesivbe claimed that the governor had been treating him unfairly since he began working with him.

He went on to say that he had been denied certain advantages that others in the state government’s media department had received.

He said that he received just N50k and two 25kg bags of rice from the governor’s recent N25m distribution to his media team.

Oghenesivbe believes that Okowa is surrounded by people who have influenced him to be nepotistic in his dealings.

The governor, however, conveyed his disapproval with Oghenesivbe’s behavior in a letter dated December 29, 2021, and signed by Patrick Ukah, the Secretary to the State Government.

Oghenesivbe’s “recklessness and insubordination” could no longer be accepted, according to the governor.

The letter reads in part: “As this trend can no longer be tolerated, I regret to inform you that your service as Executive Assistant, Communication, is no more required and your appointment is hereby terminated

“Accordingly, I am to request that you take necessary steps to hand over all government properties in your possession to the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Government House and Protocol forthwith.”

Remember that Okowa fired his commissioners on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, to’reduce distractions in governance.’
